The Beginning

The journey of Apex began with the launch of its tannery unit in 1976 and later carved its way into shoemaking with Apex Footwear Ltd. in 1990. With that began a journey of excellence to create fine-quality leather shoes for the world. Born from the inspiration of leather craftsmanship and paving its way in the industry as a pioneer, creatively crafting Italian shoemaking artistry into its designs. Through the years, Apex has mastered the art of shoemaking, using innovation in construction to create the perfect pair.

Fueled by the phenomenal success of the export business, Apex retail chain was launched in 1997 and currently has the largest footwear retail operations in the country spreading wings across all 64 districts through its extensive channel of 247 retail stores and 197 franchises.

Today, Apex is the pre-eminent footwear retail brand in Bangladesh and has won the “Most Loved Retail Shoe Brand’ award for three consecutive years in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

From Humble Beginnings to Setting An example

49 years ago, our founder, Syed Manzur Elahi, left his job with a multinational to take up leather business and take this business to the top. Leather unfolded a new chapter in his life, as he began the export of leather shoes manufactured in Bangladesh, and the rest is history.
